Platform Engineer/Systems Administrator with strong skills in Windows, VMware and the Azure cloud platform is needed for our Higher education client on a permanent basis.

The Platform Engineer/Systems Administrator will be ensuring the platforms and infrastructures are meeting availability targets and working to optimal levels.

The Platform Engineer/Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, improving and enhancing our clients’ platforms and infrastructure estate, ensuring they are fit for use and fit for purpose, monitoring and planning around peaks of businessactivity and designing them to meet both the needs of functional departments but also meeting security best practices and regulations.

- Essential Experience**
- Extensive experience of monitoring and enhancing platforms and infrastructures
- Experience of working with 3rd party providers, vendors with a good understanding of networking
- Experience of supporting and configuring new platforms such as servers both on premise and in the cloud
- Extensive experience of working with Microsoft technologies
- Experience of working with operating environment and the different levels of the architecture
- Experience of scripting and automation
- Experience of working at the database layer for root cause analysis of database related incidents
- Exposure to working with security personnel in relation to best practices
- Experience of production of technical documentation.
- Experience of working closely and constructively with technical colleagues, both internally and externally.
- Experience of working with monitoring tools and responding to trends and utilisation reports
- A good knowledge of IT infrastructures around PaaS, IaaS, SaaS and on premise
- Comprehensive in depth knowledge and complex troubleshooting
- An understanding of networking and network protocols

- An understanding of DevOps and experience with Linux
- Knowledge of ITIL best practice
- Experience of working within a University or Higher Education environment.

Hybrid working with 1-2 days per onsite in central London
