Role and Responsibilities

All team members are expected to be flexible in their approach when at work, assisting in both food and drink service as required. Specific duties for this role include:

- To prepare and maintain the bar ready for service
- To welcome & acknowledge customers as they enter the bar
- To provide customers with a high level of customer service with a pleasant and helpful manner
- To maintain the hygiene and appearance of the bar area, both back bar and public areas
- To implement age verification of customers as per the house policy
- To respond to customer requests for information about other services & events
- To handle cash and other methods of payment in a diligent manner
- To assist in serving food from the kitchen and associated support with customers meals
- To observe the appropriate statutory regulations with regard to:

- Health & safety
- Licensing law
- Preventing the use of drugs on the premises (including the gardens & car park)
- NB: appropriate training will be available to all new staff, however all team members do have a responsibility to identify any areas of training which they believe is required.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
- All new bar staff will be required to complete e-learning modules on Age Verification and Food Safety, First Aid and Drugs Awareness prior to a start date being confirmed.
- Further training will be identified dependent on individual’s previous experience and provided

Preferred Skills.
- Preference will be given to Personal License holders
- Experience in dealing with difficult customers; implementing a Challenge 25 policy.
- Experience of the cellar management and dispense of cask ales.

Additional Notes
- Uniform - the team uniform is black shirt or blouse and black jeans, trousers or skirt (not provided). Cut-offs; cargos; distressed or ripped jeans are not allowed. The uniform is expected to be clean and ironed.
- The use of mobile phones at work is restricted to breaks except in cases of emergency.
- Bar staff are allowed to use the pub as a customer when not on duty, however:

- They must not be in uniform
- They must not serve themselves drinks
- They must not be seen to be intoxicated whilst on the premises
- Other additional house rules will be provided on a separate document.

**Salary**: £7.50-£9.25 per hour
