I am currently recruiting for an experienced Payroll assistant to join a thriving finance function in Birkenhead. This is a great temporary opportunity This role is predominantly home based but will require some travel into the office for meetings.

My client have provided nationwide community support for the past 30 years. Progressive in their field they are actively recruiting for a Payroll Administrator to join them on an interim basis. A household name in the community services sector this is anopportunity not to be missed
**Description**
The key responsibilities of the successful Payroll Assistant will be:
- Maintenance of all employee data in relevant business systems (HR, Payroll, Rota Systems, Expenses, Spreadsheets)
- Responsible for end-to-end processing of payroll and related data in all relevant business systems
- Collection of time and attendance data from relevant rota systems including review of data for accuracy
- Processing of new starters, leavers and contract changes in line with statutory rules and company policy and procedures
- Undertaking administration and any other tasks assigned by your line manager
- Processing and payment of expenses for UK and ROI employees
- Process employee payments in an accurate and timely manner, taking into account agreed payment days and payment methods
- Complete data checking and reconciliation to ensure accurate and appropriate records are maintained
- Provide up to date, accurate and relevant information as and when required
- Providing a timely response to all legislative enquiries from HMRC, DWP, etc
- Processing of all statutory payments (SSP/SMP, SPP, SAP, ShPP) in line with statutory rules and company policy.
- Assist with month and year end procedures
- Actively partaking and contributing to team meetings and one-to-one meetings
**Profile**
- Strong Excel and Word skills
- Accuracy and an eye for detail
- Confident on HR systems such as SelectHR and Select Pay
- Minimum of 5 years' experience of end-to-end payroll processing for over 1000 employees
- The ability to understand legislation that relates to our business.
- Excellent communication skills, especially listening, that allow you to inform, help and support employees clearly and effectively
- Team player with an ability to work well under pressure
- Self-motivated
- IT literate (Microsoft and internal database systems)
- Good organisational and planning skills, with the ability to use initiative to develop better working practices
