We are looking for an enthusiastic highly motivated senior midwife with a vision to develop and maintain high standards of safeguarding practice across the organisation. The role requires the individual to have experience of safeguarding and effective leadership skills. The postholder will need to be enthusiastic, energetic, and passionate about providing high quality safeguarding practice.
The post holder will be responsible for providing leadership and management to the Countess of Chester Hospital Safeguarding Children’s team as well as having oversight of the maternity safeguarding cases for the organisation. There will also be a close working arrangement with the Local Safeguarding Partnerships and external partner agencies to meet the needs of the safeguarding work.
The postholder must be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills, be a caring and compassionate individual focused on providing excellent quality patient care, working within the values held by the Trust.
This role will provide specialised support and training to enhance patient and staff experience at the Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Your working hours would be based on a working week pattern of Monday to Friday 8:30-4:30 with flexibility to meet the needs of the service.
The post holder will work closely with other named professionals and senior management across the Trust to ensure that the Think Family strategy is embedded in every aspect of care delivery, providing corporate safeguarding support across the organisation and in collaboration with Key stakeholders from LSAB, LSCP, Domestic Abuse Board, and Community Safety Partnership
The responsibilities of the post will include proactively and reactively engaging with frontline staff and managers and to provide evidence based specialist information, advice, guidance and support required to help staff practice safely to safeguard children, young people, adults at risk and anyone who is a victim of Domestic Abuse confidently and effectively.
As the Named Midwife, the post holder will take the lead in developing strategies across the safeguarding and Domestic Abuse agenda, and will represent the Trust on a range of multi-agency statutory groups.
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.
The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services. The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.
