Senior Content Designer

We're looking for a Senior Content Designer to lead and develop a world class content design discipline. Part of your role will be to lead and coach a team of content designers who work in a multi-disciplinary experience design team with product designersand user researchers. You will also lead high profile projects and briefs as an expert practitioner.

You will help the team drive content led 'Discovery' sessions, creative workshops, be part of regular user testing sessions, design critiques and collaborate with the wider digital team throughout the design process. You will be able to challenge the statusquo and actively seek to improve established processes.

You will be accountable for content design across web and app and will be able to discuss your writing, research, ideas and thought processes in an open and collaborative way. You will lead the team in all aspects of content design, definition of best practiceincluding understanding the user, defining the problem, validating through research, ideation and refining of work, prototyping and testing.

**About you**

As a lead content designer you are an expert practitioner and leader who coaches a team of content designers. You assure the content quality across whole teams and make sure content aligns to strategy and objectives while meeting the needs of users.

At this level you will:

- Work closely with service managers, programme directors and senior stakeholders to resource teams, resolve problems and develop future projects
- Promote the content design discipline, engage with the wider design community and keep up to date with industry changes
- Will be assigned to high-profile briefs and projects and will lead work with a content-first approach.

**Skills needed for this role**

**Content concepts and prototyping.** You can explain the value of different content creation methods. You can facilitate workshops, research and can coach others on individual working. You help the team to visualise their work for differentaudiences. You can direct the team in the creation, testing and iteration of content.

**Agile working**. Full working knowledge of agile processes. Review approach through the life of a project and can iterate and change accordingly. You champion new ways of working and push the team forward. You assess the team's capabilitiesand provide training and insight to make sure team members can deliver work effectively.

**Stakeholder management.**You have excellent rapport and relationships with key project stakeholders and senior leadership. You can work with stakeholders to establish objectives and explain how content design makes these more attainable.You are a point of contact when stakeholder relationships become strained and can work with people from around the business to resolve conflict and issues.

**Strategic thinking.** You create and implement strategies that adhere to wider business objectives whilst always remaining customer focused.

**User focus**. You guide your team and identify which tools and content design methodologies are required in different circumstances. You have wide ranging experience of designing content and experiences that meet user needs across all channels.You can process and simplify complicated journeys and can prescribe solutions to meet needs you have worked to identify within these journeys. You bring knowledge and insight in how users read and respond to content. You know how to provide the best servicefor the user and use content design techniques to illustrate this.

**User-centred content design.** You make sure content is regularly peer-reviewed and facilitate content crits. You oversee work to make sure that all content is being produced to meet user needs and solves problems. You have extensive experienceof creating, iterating, managing, and overseeing content across multiple channels. You are accountable for the creation of quality, customer-centric content. You can identify gaps in content design skills and are responsible for the development and growthof the team.
