Family Support Worker

Working closely with victims of crime in line with agreed standards such as Youth Justice National Standards and the Victim Charter.
- Encouraging and motivating the young people and their parents/carers to participate in activities to change patterns of their offending behaviour.
- Undertaking assessments relating to risk and need of young people, in order to complete and deliver effective intervention and support plans.
- Developing and delivering both individual and group programmes to meet the identified needs of young people.
- The monitoring and evaluation of programmes; this may include reparation activities, offending behaviour work, parenting/family support and victim support.
- Completing written case records, reports and evaluations for young people including the inputting of data onto information/case management systems.
- Working flexibly and on your own initiative to meet the needs of young people as they arise, this includes evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
- Undertaking visits to support and provide intervention to young people in a range of settings including their home, residential placements and the secure estate, etc.
- Supporting the victims of crime including eliciting their wishes and feelings, updating them as required on the young person’s progress and the facilitation of mediation as appropriate.
- Representing the service in the Court arena, providing up to date and accurate information to assist in decision making and to present enforcement action.
- Completing risk assessments of activities and programmes.
