Operations Risk and Controls Associate

Working in the rapidly expanding Controls Assurance team your role will be pivotal in providing support to the Security Governance, Reporting and Oversight Function who drive the identification, evaluation and mitigation of Operational risks, and remediation of Internal Financial Controls (IFC) deficiencies and audit issues, across AXA UK Operating Companies. We’re looking for a talented individual with superb problem solving and issue resolution skills and a passion for making a difference, to join this growing team.

**What you’ll be doing**:
- Support the First Line in the design, documentation and operation of controls, in alignment with AXA Group, regulatory & industry standards, to mitigate risks
- Communicate control gaps, deficiencies, risk exposures, and changes to the Operations risk profile to Senior Management and Second Line, as appropriate
- Undertake the monitoring and updating of tracking records (spreadsheets and dedicated tools) to ensure that documentation is maintained to an excellent standard
- Support the timely identification and remediation of control gaps and deficiencies across all Operations control domains, including Technology, Data Management, Information Security, Project Management, and Third-party Management
- Support First Line in the completion of periodic Risk and Control Self-Assessments for AXA UK Operations
- Support Independent controls testing by responding to requests for information in a timely manner, and undertake work to provide requested evidence against controls
- Support Security assurance reviews including: o issuing of information requests to AXA Group functions and the AXA UK&I Businesses in an efficient and timely manner o tracking and following up on information requests and delivering them to the appropriate team members o controls testing, where required
- Support the documentation of controls to close open Internal and External audit issues
- Assist in the preparation of reports and presentation decks for both internal, AXA Group and external consumption.
**Qualifications**:
Operational risk management experience
- Knowledge of Financial Controls and Risk Frameworks
- Effective communication, interpersonal skills and behaviors
- Strong written and analytical skills (ability to process, collate and present data)
- Stakeholder management skills, with proven influencing and negotiation skills
- Pragmatic approach to problem solving and issue resolution
- Ability to assimilate information and act on requests consistently and promptly highlight conflicts and issues
- Strong knowledge and demonstrable capability with the Microsoft Office Suite of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation tools
- Understanding of the workings of UK General Insurance is desirable, but not essential
