Trainee Estimator

**Responsibilities**:

- To Support and Work alongside the Group Estimating Manager
- To support contracts managers and operational teams on a daily basis
- Work using your Own Initiative to identify shortfalls in the company Systems and look at ways to implement and develop new methods utilizing a structured Approach.
- Monitor Monthly Targets for Operations within the Business.
- General clerical duties including photocopying, fax and mailing
- Maintain electronic and hard copy filing system
- Retrieve documents from filing system
- Handle requests for information and data
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, appointments and travel arrangements for managers and Directors.
- Prepare agendas for meetings and prepare schedules
- Organise and undertake detailed site surveys
- Cost and price new enquiries, utilising previous knowledge to assist customer requirements and present any innovative solutions.
- Identify, cost and price variations to existing projects
- Liaise closely with Contracts Supervisors and Managers, issuing detailed information during internal job handover meetings.
- Attend meetings pre, post and during project progress
- Report writing including job cost analysis, productivity and direct costs against budgets.
- Final account settlements
- Assist with cash collection
- Form good working relationships with existing clients and use previous industry connections to aid sustainable growth plans
- Assist and mentor existing Commercial team members.
- Create Reports for Directors identifying Quoted Projects Conversion rates, Order book values and Targets.
- Identifying Trends and costs saving methods to secure future project using cost engineering.
- Ability to create, method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings, and all other discipline related project and engineering documentation.
- Assists the Directors and Management Team with company Objectives
- Aid with Report writing including job cost analysis, for the justification of contract wins and successful tenders where by the Labour, Materials and transport budgets will be presented with a cost justification for any purchasing of company assets in line with the materials / transport allowance built within the tender
- Form good working relationships with existing clients and use previous industry connections to aid sustainable growth plans
- Identifying Trends and costs saving methods to secure future project using cost engineering.
- Answer and address incoming phone calls in a timely and polite manner. Deal with queries and provide correct information. Take and deliver messages accurately and completely
- Other tasks to be carried out as and when required.

**Job Requirements**:

- Acceptance to work toward a 4 years' Apprenticeship Degree Level 6 in Construction Quantity Surveying at Northumbria University
- NB: Applications in later apprentice years will also be considered.
- GCSE Maths and English Language at minimum grade 4/C, or Functional Skills English and Maths at level 2. Need to be able provide evidence of these.
- Minimum of 120 UCAS Tariff Points - From a combination of acceptable Level 3 qualifications which may include: A-levels, BTEC Diplomas/Extended Diplomas, Scottish and Irish Highers, Access to HE Diplomas or the International Baccalaureate.
