We are looking to appoint a Trainee Electrical Estimator to support our continued growth at JH Mechanical & Electrical Services.

The Trainee Electrical Estimator will be part of a small Estimating Team who will play a key role in helping to source, price and secure the pipeline of works for our company, JH Mechanical and Electrical Services.

This is a hands-on role with a responsibility for the production of tenders for both pre-designed and design & construct projects, with some support from the Estimating Manager if required, along with the estimating of small works (£1k-£10k typically).

The Trainee Electrical Estimator must be able to read drawings, as well as understand and risk assess project specific contract terms and specifications and brief the team on these. They must also be able to organise and complete required surveys and prepare detailed estimates to ensure that opportunities are being accurately estimated competitively and profitably.

The job entails liaising with clients to develop and secure the project pipeline, working alongside the Estimating Manager and Electrical; therefore, excellent communication skills is essential for the role. The role also demands a high commercial awareness of our competitors and their pricing strategies, exceptional attention to detail, line management experience, initiative, and the ability to always meet tight deadlines.

Key qualifications and experience include:

- Time served Electrician would be advantageous
- Experience of tendering and securing small, medium and large projects within the M&E Industry would be advantageous
- Proven ability to liaise, negotiate and secure works from clients
- Proven ability to liaise, negotiate and secure best prices from suppliers
- Proven ability of leading project pre-start meetings with clients on behalf of the company
- Sound knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH Legislation and M&E industry regulations
- Trustworthy and discreet
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage own jobs for the day and across numerous sites
- Proven ability to oversee multiple quotes/tenders at any one time, often with pressured time frames and across numerous sites
- High level of commercial awareness and a proven track record of driving forward and improving financial and operational performance, including setting and monitoring project and team targets
- Produce KPI reports, evaluate performance and make recommendations for improvements
- Able to work on own initiative.
- Good time management skills
- Experience of working at a small to medium sized company
- Used to working to tight deadlines
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- A proactive approach to work and problem solving
- Prince 2 Project Management training would be desirable
