Requirement to work flexibly (Mon-Fri) as required to deliver the service between the core reception times of 0700 - 2000 (Mon-Thu) and 0700 to 1700 (Fridays).
Two shifts - Early Shift 0700 - 1330, Late Shift 1330-2000 - Mon to Thur, Fri's 07.00 to 12.00 and 12.00 to 17.00

**Primary Job Purpose**

To ensure the security of nominated buildings through monitoring of personnel wishing to enter the premises and to ensure the building is opened at the beginning of the day and secured at the end of the working day.

**Responsibilities**

**Tasks include, but are not limited to**:
To populate the reception desk 45 weeks of the year during the programmed Royal Navy Training Term periods

Monitor and control access of all entitled personnel and ensure safe custody of passes at the point of entry.

Prevent unauthorised entry of any individuals who do not have valid permission/reason or clearance to enter the building, calling for appropriate support for escorts as occasions arise.

Be the first point of contact for general enquiries for all persons wishing to enter the facility, permitting entry only to those who have authorisation.

Maintain close liaison with support staff who control the issue of passes to staff and students.

Responsible for the diligent opening/closing of the building including the setting and resetting of the building alarm systems. (Task includes completion of external safety, environment and security rounds.

Monitor networked building services and security alarms that are linked from the foyer to other remote locations.

Liaise with Building Manager/SHE Coordinators as required.

Maintain close liaison with internal support staff.

Control the issue and security of general and security keys.

Control the use of personal security boxes in the foyer area and as reasonably practical ensuring communications devices are switched off.

Control Signatory Logs.

Maintain a working relationship with the site security staff.

Liaise with internal General Administration, security support and FM staff in the course of his /her duties.

Manage associated notice-boards.

Assist in safety and evacuation activities (exercise and actual) as they occur.

Undertake any other tasks as determined by the Mitie Line Manager, including support/cover for other personnel, when required

**Knowledge, Skills and Experience**

Demonstrable proficiency in using IT (software) within the workplace to a level commensurate with the role. (essential)

Have a broad understanding of Royal Navy rank structure. (Desirable)

First Aid certification (willingness to undergo First Aid training a useful additional skill-set)

Prior experience of similar roles (Desirable)

**Additional Information**

Holidays are taken during Royal Navy Leave periods.

Required to wear approved company work wear,** **including PPE when necessary.
