- As a Make Ready Operative (MRO) you will typically work in a small team with a supervisor overseeing the work and on hand for support. As well as the vital role of preparing emergency vehicles for operational duties, you will support the management of stock and equipment assets and restock module bags destined for the vehicles. Significant care and attention to detail is required in module bag preparation whilst vehicle preparation is undertaken with a record required of every check undertaken.
- The requirement to work shifts includes nights and weekends and a degree of flexibility will be required to ensure our service delivery is maintained. You will also need good communication skills and a basic understanding of IT will be essential along with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
- Your role will also involve moving ambulances and vehicles so a UK driving licence with a commitment to attaining a full C1 licence within 12 months of commencement of the role is mandatory.
- You will need to have a high attention to detail, an ability to follow step by step instructions and to be able to work as part of a team in a customer focussed environment to succeed in this role
- The Make Ready team at your station will be a close-knit team which relies on each other. You will often pair up to complete tasks which provides the opportunity to get to know team members well. In addition to working within a fantastic team environment, we provide a role specific training package and there are opportunities for career progression.
- The Operational Support directorate, which includes Make Ready Services, is a dedicated and vital support team which assists our front-line paramedics in providing excellent care to people living in the East of England, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. As well as Make Ready it includes Fleet, Workshops and Clinical Engineering and provides a service supporting our operational colleagues across the 6 counties of the Trust - Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk.
- As a Trust, EEAST has embarked on a transformation plan to ensure we can meet the challenges of the future. This includes commissioning the building and upgrading of a large number our main ambulance stations (hubs) across all six counties that we cover. The significant change involved in this transformation means it is an exciting time to join Make Ready Services with the prospect of new, remarkable working environments and improved, more efficient working practices due in the next few years.
**The main duties of your role will include**:
- To clean emergency vehicles internally and externally to Infection and Prevention Control standards including deep cleans and decontamination cleans
- To re-stock medical consumables stores on emergency vehicles to ensure each shift starts with a full load
- To undertake set vehicle roadworthiness checks
- To undertake the safety/functional checks of onboard equipment (medical and non-medical)
- To monitor the electronic equipment tracking system (RFID) to identify both the compliance of equipment on operational vehicles and any shortfalls of equipment/consumables
- To refuel vehicles where facilities exist
- To move vehicles on stations for refuelling, cleaning, parking, and to move them between stations and/or workshops
- To restock module bags held in Make Ready stores
