**Job summary**:

Within this role the individual will provide expert environmental protection related advice and support to the Duty Holder/Head of Establishment to ensure, and assure, legal, regulatory and policy compliance within area of responsibility.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
This can be challenging as the role holder may need to intervene and positively challenge more senior managers and suppliers to ensure statutory requirements are upheld. This requires a willingness to challenge in an engaging manner and the ability to communicate effectively to an audience who are non-environmental specialists.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

- Development of the site Environmental Management System (EMS) and undertaking its annual review.
- Development and maintenance of the Significant Environmental Aspects Risk Assessments and their associated Register.
- Maintenance and further development of the site Spillage Response Plan.
- Acting as Waste Manager for the site, including the development of the Integrated Waste Management Plan.
- Liaising with the Fuels and Gas Safety Regulator to maintain full site compliance as necessary.
- Acting as Conservation Officer for the site, developing a site Conservation Group with suitable site guidance/policy on conservation.
- Liaising with all appropriate stakeholders on site, including the Defence Infrastructure Organisation, Regional Prime Contractor and Delivery Partners, working towards shared EP and sustainability goals.

**Person specification**:

- Experience of working in a similar environment, or, a relevant Environmental qualification, such as the NEBOSH Environmental Certificate (or equivalent at level 3 or above) or willing to undertake this when in position.
- Computer literate especially in Microsoft Office Applications.
- Be able to demonstrate an understanding of the key components of an Environmental Management System (EMS) with the ability to advise, plan and deliver in line with expectations.

It would also be great if you can demonstrate any of the following desirable criteria:

- Health and Safety experience.

In addition to the responsibilities above, the following technical competences and behaviours will be assessed at interview:

- Conducting Risk Assessments ((OHSEP) Practitioner).
- Working together.
- Communicating and influencing.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum Level 3 NQF in a relevant environmental protection discipline or demonstrated equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with expectation to achieve minimum Level 3 NQF in a relevant environmental protection discipline within 12 months of assignment.**Memberships**:
