**POSITION OVERVIEW**
The Head of Group Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) is an essential role within the business. This individual will support and progress Unilode on our journey, a journey where people and our planet are crucial to our success.
The Head of Group HSE will be responsible for augmenting the Health, Safety and Environment strategy and the transition from Strategy into practice. In addition, he/she will be focused on identifying and implementing key improvement measures as well as the development of governance systems, continuous improvement plans and the overall cultural approach to Safety, Health and Environmental matters.
**GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Determining the annualised Group Health, Safety and Environment targets.
- Leading the development and delivery of a best practice health and safety function, identifying opportunities to enhance the effectiveness HSE in our operations.
- Ensuring HSE education programmes are developed and delivered across the business providing the necessary competence development.
- Developing an effective HSE Management Framework and an associated plan for implementation.
- Develop HSE Policy content, linked to the HSE Framework.
- Establish an internal HSE Audit plan and schedule to monitor compliance to external and internal requirements (Regulatory and Mandatory).
- Ensuring consistent and robust processes and procedures are in place for the management of people and assets across the organisation, to ensure regulatory compliance and reduction of risk.
- Developing and establish key relationships with the relevant Operational and Functional leaders across the business.
- Leading new HSE initiatives, specifically around the implementation of HSE management systems and processes, ensuring that HSE is front and centre with all operations and significant business operational changes.
- Providing timely reporting of HSE performance and key risks and successes (Monthly, Quarterly, Annually).
- Research of new and emerging technologies to ensure that all HSE reporting, auditing, and tracking is captured in real time and remains visible for internal and external audit and scrutiny.
- Drive the agenda on promoting Unilode as a best in class employer from an HSE perspective, through appropriate accreditations and awards (i.e. RoSPA, BRC etc.).
- Additional duties as assigned.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Current Grad IOSH of the Institute of Occupational Safety & Health is essential and a well maintained IOSH CPD plan.
- NEBOSH Diploma/certificate in H&S Management Systems.
- NEBOSH Diploma/Certificate in Environmental Management (or similar).
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a professional HSE role with a minimum of 5 years in a HSE leadership role.
- Professional Fire Risk and Management qualification is desirable.
- Managing the implementation and transition of a HSE Framework into a multi-site landscape.
- Management and presentation of HSE performance metrics.
- Demonstrated abilities to assist sites in developing their HSE improvement plans.
- Numerically astute and practically minded regards to HSE metrics and required action.
- Have experience in developing HSE data capture processes.
