**PRU Teaching Assistant**
For this PRU Teaching Assistant role you will be required to support students who have been removed from a mainstream school on a temporary or permanent basis, this could be because of attendance, behaviour, if they are at risk in their local area or school,young pregnancies etc. You will be based in a class of 5 students, where you will be required to support them during their lessons and manage their behaviour when needed, as they will find it difficult to concentrate for long periods of time and will wantto disrupt the other or leave the classroom. You will also be required to assist with break duties, to make sure all of the students are safe and not getting into fights or doing things they shouldn't be. The ideal PRU Teaching Assistant for this role willneed to have had previous experience working with young people and be able to build a strong rapport.
**Pupil Referral Unit**
This Pupil Referral Unit is found in the South London borough of Lewisham and caters for students aged between 11-16 years who have been removed from mainstream education. They currently have 50 students who attend and believe that education can transform thelives of their students and they aim to give all students learning experiences to prepare them for their lives beyond school. In their last Ofsted in June 2018, there were awarded 'Good' in all areas.
