Job Introduction
We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Buying team as a Junior Buyer in our Food team This role is perfect for an established Assistant Buyer or Trainee Buyer looking for the next step in their career, or a Junior Buyer looking to move categories.
Buying is at the heart of our strategy and more than ever we want to continue providing Top Brands at Bottom Prices for our customers.
You will have the opportunity to manage your own category, assist the team, meet suppliers, negotiate the best deals and develop your own ranges. This is a dynamic and fast-paced role within a growing and busy department.
Job Overview
- Support to Senior Team within the Food category
- Responsibility for own category - sales, margin, range and sku count
- Drive strong in-store availability
- Develop pricing and promotion plans
- Analyse data and spot opportunities for growth
- Negotiate with suppliers and develop strong joint business plans
- Evaluate sales
- Work closely with stores and Regional teams to gather feedback regarding product lines, availability and layout
Minimum Criteria To Apply
- Experienced Assistant or Trainee Buyer, ideally within FMCG food or drink categories
- Strong negotiator
- Strong commercial and market awareness
- Works well under pressure and to tight and often conflicting timeframes
- Excellent attention to detail; able to analyse data and spot trends
- Excellent knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Excel
- A confident communicator and relationship builder
- Excellent organisational and problem solving skills and a real 'can do' attitude

Package
- Competitive salary - DOE
- Site based in Liverpool Head Office, with the frequent requirement to visit stores, trade fairs, suppliers and overseas travel
