**Pickfords **are looking for a **Maintenance/General Assistant **person based at our **York Self Store.**

Pickfords is a fantastic national brand that specialises in removals and storage, offering a full range of professional removals and storage services for home and business.

**JOB PURPOSE**:

- To assist in the day-to-day running of the Self Store facility, giving a friendly and professional service to our customers.
- To ensure that the Self Store is well maintained, clean & tidy at all times, and ensure the facility is safe and complies with the companies procedures regarding health & safety.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Key holder/alarm callouts.
- Undertake all routine maintenance tasks and minor repair works as requested by the Self Store Manager.
- To check the maintenance request sheet for tasks to be completed, prioritise workload.
- On a weekly basis undertake the fire alarm test and routine checks of fire doors, security and alarms.
- Ensure a constant supply of janitorial supplies and other supplies for the self-store.
- Ensure all areas of the facility are free from litter.
- Report to the manager if a particular job falls outside the training or skill of the post holder.
- Be responsible for the health and safety of yourself, other staff and visitors under the Health and Safety Regulations.
- The role relies on you being able to get on and do jobs without supervision, so it is important that you are happy to work without supervision, and under your own initiative.
- Understand the need for flexibility and be prepared to undertake additional duties in order to maintain the facility.
- Opening and locking up when required.
- Reception duties when required.
- Ad hoc duties as required.

**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE**:

- You will be able to work independently without supervision.
- You will hold good general knowledge of building and mechanical operations, record keeping and health and safety within the workplace
- You will be a good communicator and have experience of interacting effectively with a wide range of people.
- Computing/ IT experience, (training will be given on our systems).
- Hold a full clean Driving license.
- Pro-active,Motivated and enthusiastic.
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
- Problem solving skills.
