**Position: Construction Buyer**
GKL are a Building, Civil Engineering and Development company based in Peterborough, working on Projects in Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, and Rutland.
We are currently looking for a Construction Buyer to join our small, but busy team in Peterborough.
**The main duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to the following**:
- Dealing with site requisitions and raising of purchase orders for suppliers and services.
- Helping to solve problems that may arise on site in a proactive manner.
- Establishing excellent working relationships with suppliers, site teams, accounts, and contracts management.
- Being constantly on the lookout for ways to improve the supply chain and bring new suppliers and products on board.
- Dealing with invoice queries from suppliers relating to purchase orders.
- Conducting meetings with new and existing suppliers to review service and pricing.
- Supporting our estimator where required.
- Prioritising and managing multiple tasks, monitoring progress, and seeing them through to a successful conclusion.
- Understanding the importance of getting materials and services to site in a timely manner.
- Maintaining plant hire records.
- Working in accordance with set policies and procedures.
- Other ad hoc duties as required (answering the door and phone).
**Our ideal Construction Buyer** **will have the below skills and experience**:
**Essential**:
- Driving License.
- GCSE level in Maths and English
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams
- A background in the Construction Sector with at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
- The ability to remain calm and objective under pressure.
**Desirable**:
- Previous experience with Eque2 Construct software (or similar) would be advantageous.
**Other useful information**
- The role is office based (although an element of remote working would be considered).
- We have free car parking.
- Hours of work are 8.00am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday.
- Holiday entitlement is 23 days per year plus 8 bank holidays. Holiday entitlement increases with length of service.
- We have a Company Pension Scheme that you will be invited to join.
- Death in service benefit is provided after two years of service.
- The starting Salary will be in the range of (£30,000 - £35,000) depending on experience.
