Part Time Financial Controller

Butler Rose is pleased to be supporting a well-established leading SME with the recruitment of a Part Time Financial Controller (circa 25 hrs per week)
The main purpose of this role is to ensure the Financial Controller collaborates with the group directors to ensure that the group's finances are well-managed, and that financial information is accurate and timely.
The Financial Controller will lead a two-person finance team in all day-to-day operations and is responsible for the development and maintenance of financial controls, processes, and systems, ensuring that they meet statutory requirements.
Some of the duties will include:
- Production of monthly management accounts, to provide comprehensive financial information to guide strategy and policies
- Prepare the annual operating budget in liaison with the directors and managers
- Review, analysis and reporting of budget variances and financial trends
- Implement and maintain adequate systems of internal control to ensure the integrity of financial records and reports, including balance sheet and account reconciliations
- Manage the Treasury function/Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable ledgers
- Oversee cashflow within the business and maintain rolling forecasts
- Liaise with external auditors during their audit of the group's annual statutory accounts and corporation tax review.
- Liaise with and provide reports to the group's bankers in connection with banking facilities
- Submissions to HMRC for VAT and PAYE
- Working with directors and managers to identify efficiencies and process improvements
Person Spec
- Qualified accountants or QBE applicants will be considered for this role if you can demonstrate previous experience operating at a similar level.
- A practical understanding of management accounting principles and techniques
- Solid IT skills with advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential
- Solid understanding of VAT and PAYE regulations and experienced in preparing and filing VAT and PAYE returns and managing a payroll
- Possess good time-management and organisational skills and have an ordered approach to documentation and procedures. Be able to work to strict reporting deadlines and able to multi-task
