**Post‑16 SEN Teaching Assistant**

**Summary**
Are you passionate about helping young people with additional needs to build real‑life skills and emotional resilience? This role offers the opportunity to join a specialist post‑16 provision and support students with Autism, learning difficulties, and communication needs as they progress toward independent living.

**The Role**
As a Post‑16 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with learners aged 16-25, supporting them as they build confidence, life skills and emotional wellbeing. You will work one‑to‑one or in small groups, helping students navigate daily living skills, social interaction, communication, and personal development.

Typical duties will include:

- Supporting students in life‑skills activities such as travel training, budgeting, cooking, personal care or work placements
- Helping deliver communication strategies (such as PECS or Makaton) — training provided where needed
- Promoting emotional regulation and mental wellbeing through calm, structured support
- Aiding in the implementation of individual learning plans, both within the provision and in community-based settings
- Encouraging social development, independence and employability skills in preparation for adulthood

We welcome applicants from backgrounds in care, education, youth services, health, social work, or those with personal experience supporting individuals with additional needs.
- Be calm, caring, adaptable and resilient
- Have experience (formal or informal) supporting individuals with Autism, learning disabilities, or social/emotional needs
- Be confident supporting life‑skills development and promoting independence
- Possess strong communication and teamwork skills
- Be willing to support personal care and follow behavioural support plans when required
- Show a genuine commitment to helping young people thrive beyond the classroom

**The Provision**
The role is within a specialist post‑16 provision that places emphasis on life skills, independence and preparing students for adult life. The team is known for a warm, inclusive ethos and a strong commitment to supporting every individual’s growth — not just academically, but personally and socially too.

**Working Hours**
Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
Full‑time or part‑time hours considered
No weekends or evening shifts
