**Job Title** Cover Supervisor and Pastoral & Academic Support Assistant
**Employment Status **Permanent Part-time
**Working Pattern **36¼ hours per week

8.30am - 4.15pm Monday to Friday with a half
- hour unpaid lunch daily
36 weeks per year (term time only)

**Annual Salary** A19 to 23 - £21,483 to £24,370
**Actual Annual Salary **£16,530 - £19,108 including holiday pay

**Reporting to**
The Lead Cover Supervisor for line management purposes and the Bursar & Chief Operating Officer, who has overall responsibility for support staff.

**Responsible for**

Undertaking administrative tasks to support the wider work of the school. Other duties may include assisting during the examination season and accompanying students on educational visits.

**Main Duties as Cover Supervisor and Admin Support Assistant**:
2. Completing electronic registration of each class.

4. Undertaking administrative tasks that can be completed during the lessons supervised. The role of cover supervisor is not a teaching role and the assistance provided to pupils during the lessons will not be extensive or require constant interaction with pupils.

5. Supervising the pupils in accordance with the School’s expectations and rules of behaviour.

6. Dealing with any matters as they arise according to school policies and procedures, particularly in relation to positive behaviour and conduct, attendance, disciplinary routes/referrals, developing good working relationships with students and classes.

7. Collecting completed work and return to appropriate teacher, where required.

8. Informing the class teacher of progress made in the lesson and any issues that arose from the work set.

10. Supervising tutor group registration as required.

11. Assisting with other administrative or supervisory duties when not deployed to cover classes for absent teachers, or during cover sessions where possible.

12. Undertaking administrative tasks as allocated by the Lead Cover Supervisor.

13. Assisting with other activities relating to supervision of pupils including duties (e.g. break and bus duty) and attendance on school trips.

**Main duties as Playground Supervisor**:
14. Supervision of pupils during morning break and lunch-time, to include patrolling Grounds and/or classrooms and recreation areas ensuring good and safe behaviour.
15. Liaising with Teaching staff on disciplinary matters and maintenance of School Rules.
16. Providing simple First Aid and/or referring unwell or injured pupils to the Health and Wellbeing Centre.

17. Supervising the bus queues at the end of the School day, in support of the duty staff.

The above list is not exhaustive but summarises the key roles to be performed and other duties may be required and directed by the Headmaster or one of his Deputies. A willingness to respond supportively to changing circumstances and/or the changing needs of the School is part of working in a school environment and is expected of the postholder.

**Safeguarding**
All staff are in a position of trust and have a duty to keep children and young people safe and to protect them from neglect and physical and emotional harm. This duty is in part exercised through the development of respectful caring and professional relationships between staff, children, and young people. Staff are expected to be familiar with the local child protection arrangements and understand their responsibilities in order to safeguard and protect children and young people.

**Qualifications**

GCSE A* - C in English and Maths (or equivalent)

Level 3 (Advanced level or equivalent

A degree level qualification

**Knowledge and Experience**

Experience of working with children of secondary school age in a
paid or voluntary role

Proficient with IT e.g. Microsoft Word and Excel

Knowledge of Keeping Children Safe in Education

**Personal Qualities**

Ability to relate positively to young people with a commitment to making a positive contribution to their education
