**Contract**:Permanent | Full time

**Salary**:£29,109 - £31,296 per annum (NYP Scale 5) plus weekend working allowance 17.38 hours per month.

** Hours**: You will work a 4-week shift pattern which includes working 1 in 3 weekends. You will work between 8am - 5pm.

North Yorkshire Police is committed to protecting vulnerable people and tackling domestic abuse. We’re looking for a Domestic Abuse Officer (DAO) to join our Safeguarding team and help support victims, manage risk, and work with partners to prevent harm.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you’ll engage directly with victims and offenders, carry out risk assessments, and collaborate with multi-agency partners to deliver early intervention and problem-solving approaches that make a real impact.

** Key Responsibilities**
- Review cases and carry out safety visits to high-risk (and some medium-risk) victims, ensuring all safeguarding measures are in place.
- Work closely with external agencies to deliver coordinated support and advice.
- Provide guidance to victims and signpost them to specialist services.
- Advise officers on domestic abuse matters in line with NPCC guidance.
- Assist with MARAC meetings and Clare’s Law disclosures.
- Maintain accurate records, complete paperwork, and contribute to investigations.

** What We’re Looking For**
- Direct experience working with victims of domestic abuse or vulnerable individuals, such as those with mental health or substance misuse issues.
- Background in social care, safeguarding, advocacy, or similar experience would be ideal.
- Strong communication and conflict management skills.
- Ability to negotiate, influence, and problem-solve effectively.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and case management systems.
