Get to know the business Syndicate 1183 underwrites multiple classes of business including Political Violence/Terrorism, Marine and Aviation War, Energy (off-shore and on-shore), Marine and Energy Liability, Hull, Cargo and Specie, Political Risk, Property, Accident and Health, Financial Lines, Cyber, Alternative Risks, Non-Physical Cyber and Treaty Reinsurance. Syndicate 2019 reinsures premium written by AIG’s Private Client Group, covering Homeowners, Auto, General Specie and other products. About the role **What you need to know**: Reports to the Property Claims Manager, with responsibility for managing all aspects of the claims adjudication process, providing management and clients with an efficient and effective claims service. Talbot’s Political Violence team is AIG’s centre of excellence. We combine Talbot’s expertise and unparalleled experience of Lloyd’s, with AIG’s ability to issue admitted policies as part of Global multinational placements. AIGs extensive global network provides further global reach to our distribution. The Property Claims Team manage claims concerning the following Direct, Facultative Reinsurance, Excess of Loss and Proportional Treaty classes: Political Violence & Terror (AIG Centre of Excellence) Property including Binders/Lineslips Downstream Energy & Power Syndicate 2019 claims Construction (RO) Aviation War, Direct Aviation & Aviation Treaty (RO) Treaty(RO) Acting within an agreed claims handling authority and upholding the departmental objectives. Adhering to Lloyds Minimum Standards Agreeing valid claims Establishing and maintaining reserves for complex and large claims Carrying out negotiations with brokers, face to face when required, on claims where Talbot is the leader or second lead Handling claims electronically predominately via ECF and DocoSoft Maintaining compliance with internal and external risk controls and regulatory requirements Supervising and monitoring organizations where the syndicate has delegated claims authority Notifying and reporting claims notifications to underwriters and senior management where necessary Handling litigated cases in relevant jurisdictions Leading the delivery of projects outside claims-related responsibilities in order to add value to the department and business. Supporting senior leadership in the claims team to help the department achieve its broader objectives Representing Talbot at conferences and market events, cascading leaning Completing statics, SDRs, diary and other ancillary tasks to a high standard Maintaining actuarial and IBNR records To assist the CLT with Manager Approvals (see separate procedures) Experience Handling complex claims through discovery process, dispute resolution, mediation, court, obtaining judgement Delivering projects additional to core role such as those linked to delivering the business strategy or implementing function-wide change Representing Talbot externally at senior level Experience in handling direct and facultative reinsurance claims in the classes of Construction, Property, Downstream Energy & Power and Treaty. Experience in PV, Terror, Crop, Farm, would be an advantage. Also any of the Aviation classes. Qualified or studying towards ACII Foreign languages would be an advantage The person will be enthusiastic, possess sound technical knowledge of the relevant classes of business and be able to demonstrate strong influencing, negotiating and communication skills. Detailed understanding of the London Market regulatory environment and implications for Talbot and our clients Full working knowledge of ECF and DocoSoft Litigation, mediation, dispute resolution and deposition skills Use of internal underwriting and claims systems and relevant software packages Relationship building internally and externally Ability to identify trends and take action or escalate as appropriate. Ability to identify trends and understand how these may impact on Claims and the Syndicate more broadly.
