Our client is a well-established freight forwarding company with an admirable reputation within the freight and logistics sector. They are looking at growing their sales division and adding a BDM to sell their Freight forwarding services.

This Business Development Manager role is to help to ensure the continual growth of the company’s targets across the full portfolio of services whilst growing the existing revenue streams. Predominantly focusing on the Multi modal.

This role will support, manage and develop the existing sales activity. The role requires a natural networker who creates and builds profitable customer relationships through effective client interaction. On the cutting edge of innovation, this role demandsexceptional drive and tenacity, a forward-thinking attitude, and continual striving for excellence.

**Key Duties of the Role**:

- Working closely with and reporting to the Managing Director - you will be responsible for the day-to-day selling of logistics services.
- Along with the Managing Director you will draft a business plan for this business unit - maximizing both revenue and profitability.
- Deliver an outstanding customer service experience and build a first-class reputation for quality and excellence.
- You will manage the day-to-day relationships with the customers and deliver a first class after sales experience, including the timely resolution of any issues that arise; to ensure that customer expectations are met at all times.
- Day-to-day you will work on a carefully chosen pipeline of blue-chip, high-end clients
- You will actively prospect for new business on a day-to-day basis, providing daily and weekly written updates to the Managing Director.
- On a monthly basis you will prepare a ‘state of play” business report to be submitted to the board of directors.
- You will deal with all enquires for warehousing and logistics services on a timely basis - by phone and where necessary with face-to-face visits and update the Managing Director on outcomes achieved.
- You will lead and deliver top quality sales presentations to both visiting potential customers and in off-site face-to-face meetings.
- Working with the finance team you will focus on ways of maximizing the overall profitability of the business.
- You will contribute to the future growth of the business by highlighting areas of opportunity to add new and additional services such as pick and pack and full end-to-end fulfillment.
- Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports and updates to the Managing Director.
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ top level sales experience in Business Development within a Freight forwarding setting
- Be a seasoned sales professional with a proven track record of delivering on targets. Be passionate about selling.
- Demonstrate the ability to deliver on a business plan and its objectives including the management of all resources and costs.
- Be well organized with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work to provide excellent service to existing and potential customers.
- Be a confident and articulate presenter - able to deliver top level sales presentations to existing and potential customers.
- Excellent IT and Computer Skills - including Microsoft Office and other relevant software packages.
- Be a team player and naturally connect with other sales departments within the overall group as well as other key functions in the business such as finance and quality assurance.
- Have experience of day-to-day reporting and accountability to senior management.
- Possess a positive, can-do attitude and the ability to go the extra mile to get the job done correctly and on time.
- Ability to work to deadlines and great attention to detail.
- Be very well connected within the logistics and transport industries across the island of Ireland.
- Be customer focused and passionate about delivering a first class customer experience.
