**Job Description - Attendance Officer - Term Time only + 6 inset days**

**Grade 5 scp - 6-9**

**Statement of Purpose**

To work under the direction and guidance of the Attendance Intervention Manager and Senior

Leadership Team to take responsibility for the day-to-day attendance procedures in line with school and

MAT policies and procedures. To contribute to operational priorities within the school improvement plan and/or attendance action plan where relevant and required.

**Support for Attendance**
- To be responsible for all aspects of the operation the attendance module within the MIS and associated software platforms.
- To carry out all school procedural and operational responsibilities as described in school/MAT/DfE guidance.
- To record student absence utilising appropriate coding.
- To receive information regarding absence via all communication channels available to include the telephone absence line.
- To record absence information accurately and in a timely manner on a daily basis.
- To ensure the timely completion of all registers and confirm their accuracy.
- Check for missing attendance marks/registers and follow up directly with staff where required.
- To ensure that all unknown absences are followed up with parents in a timely manner and in line with school procedures to enable reasons for absence to be accurately recorded.
- To action further communication with parents regarding prolonged and/or unexplained absence where required.
- To liaise with the AIM regarding prolonged/unexplained absences where further intervention is required.
- To receive and process all leave of absence requests, liaising with AIM and SLT.
- To create and monitor ‘special registers’ within the MIS and/or associated software platforms as required. For example for buses or extra-curricular activities.

**Support to Attendance Intervention Manager and other staff.**
- To support in the provision of data and reports linked to attendance and punctuality where requested.
- To meet regularly with AIM to discuss procedures and particular students linked to attendance.
- To conduct paired home visits with AIM or member(s) of the safeguarding team as required.

- Undertake general clerical duties as and when necessary, e.g. reception duties.

- Experience of working in a school/with children

**Qualifications/Training**
- NVQ 3 school support or equivalent qualification or experience.
- Evidence of formal ICT training and development. AF/I
- Good numeracy and literacy skills
- Microsoft pack i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook
- MIS experience and/or experience in linked packages

**Knowledge/Skills**
- Effective use of ICT packages.
- Ability to work constructively as part of a team, understanding school AF/I roles and responsibilities and your own position within these.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Ability to relate well to children and to adults.
- Good organising, planning and prioritising skills.
- Methodical with a good attention to detail.
- Knowledge or relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.
