We maintain an internal surge capability of staff who may be called at short notice to support an activation of the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE). Training and support will be provided. This is an excellent opportunity to develop crisis management skills.

**Job description**:
Our Team:
What do climate change, food safety, transport emissions and sustainable housing all have in common? They are all underpinned by science and engineering.

The Role:
Supporting events - This will ensuring the profession's brand is represented at externally run events, and the profession's offer communicated through the use of promotional materials, or speaking to audiences directly about the profession.

The role holder will also have the opportunity to feed into the delivery of a cross-government campaign which will look to raise the capability of scientists and engineers within government.

**Responsibilities**:
Main responsibilities:

- Design, plan and lead on science and engineering hybrid (in person and virtual) events across government. This will involve liaising with a wide range of stakeholders across government including senior scientists and engineers and the Government Chief Scientific Advisor.
- Evaluate events to ensure they are relevant and achieving set goals.
- Develop communications and engagement strategies to embed existing products across government, including evaluation methods.
- Provide support to the communications team on running of blogs, newsletters and routine engagement with members of the Government Science and Engineering Profession.
- Help increase the profile of science and engineering across government, including coming up with creative initiatives for communication routes and methods.

**Skills and experience**

Will need to be technically proficient at organising and running hybrid-events through platforms like Eventbrite, MS Teams.
