**About the Role**

We’re now recruiting for a Train Riding Inspector based at Kings Cross Station, London to carry out call outs to failed trains and an opportunity to play your part in our brand-new future assisting in improving the reliability of our trains.

As part of our team, you will play a vital role in servicing, maintaining, fault finding, carrying out in service repairs and you’ll be the face of Northern. It’s about continuously reviewing and improving the processes, to achieve set targets and deadlines to help us build a Railway the North can be proud of.

You will report to the Train Riding Manager and be working within a team of TRIs covering the north & south of the East Coast Mainline whilst working closely with front-line staff. You are key member of the team to that makes sure customers enjoy their experience as they arrive safely at their destinations through a well-managed fleet.

**About You**

We expect you to be an apprentice-trained, multiskilled engineering technician with practical experience of mechanical and electrical fault finding and maintenance in order to be successful in this role, but our Training Team will also be there to support you.

If you fancy doing your thing at Northern, you will need to be able to work well as a team and be able to communicate clearly and to work safely, effectively, and efficiently with colleagues and managers.

What’s really important is an ability to stay calm and to think on your feet in sometimes challenging situations. And because you’ll need to work a range of shifts, from the early hours of the mornings until late at night, plus weekends and Bank Holidays, it’s vital that you’re flexible and that you live within 60 minutes’ of our depot.
