This job description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The post-holder will be required to undertake other duties commensurate with the grade as directed. The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with the post-holder when necessary and in line with the service developments. As the lead clinician in a specialist area of practice the postholder will provide expert clinical advice and support to other professionals both within the service and to other professionals.
The post holder will be responsible for setting professional direction and delivering highly specialist clinical care to their own caseload and service within that speciality area. They will undertake specialised assessments, plan and implement specialist and contemporary evidence based interventions, evaluate efficacy of such interventions, and maintain associated records detailing input based on area of specialism. Provide specialist education and training for team and multi-agency services in keeping with specialism. Undertake research and lead clinical audits in own specialist areas and be responsible for developing new and innovative clinical practices responding to emerging knowledge and techniques.
Act as senior practitioner in defined area of specialist work, being responsible for the maintenance of professional standards and competencies within their defined clinical area. To work autonomously and collaboratively within the MDT, providing advice, consultation and teaching for other agencies/professionals. Under the guidance of senior managers, provide strong collaborative leadership that promotes and supports qualitative and effective decision making and taking, in keeping with the FCAMH service and trust policy. To provide supervision and teaching to all other disciplines within FCAMHS and to deputise as agreed for the Team Manager.
To promote safeguarding and the welfare of children and young people. Key Result Areas: Lead the delivery of evidence based therapy within a specific area of practice and clinical pathway. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility in accordance with the Trust Policies and procedures and in accordance with the code of the NMC. The post-holder will have highly developed skills in assessing the needs of children and their carers based on the analysis of highly complex facts and situations and supporting the development of psychologically informed multi-factorial formulations to support the development of individual plans of care.
The formulation will support the development of bespoke intervention packages. Develop and utilise specialised assessments, using own judgement to aid problem identification and formulation within specialism Offering highly specialist expertise in child and adolescent mental health, ensuring clear documentation in all appropriate case notes and sharing assessments and information with the family and all relevant professionals. To undertake highly specialist initial and risk assessments of young people following referral for presentations requiring urgent mental health including acts of serious self-harm and attempted suicide and plan relevant interventions.in line with evidence based practice. Assessing risk in collaboration with children and young people experiencing mental health difficulties, significant others and other workers/colleagues, alongside use of own professional judgment and team processes.
This involves exploring individuals risk of harm to themselves or others and may involve working with challenging, hostile and distressing behaviour. For full job description, please see attached supporting documents
