Wordings Specialist

The Position:

- We are recruiting a policy wordings specialist to draft and advise on wordings for the Arch UK Regional Division. The role will involve drafting, preparation and production of insurance contract wordings and other associated documentation for the agreed classes of business, advising the business and assisting in wordings negotiations where required and keeping appraised of all legal and regulatory developments affecting insurance wordings.
- The role will provide a service to the business whilst maintaining quality and accuracy of wordings to ensure our products meet the demands and needs of their target market and the business avoids unintended exposures.

Job Responsibilities:

- Reviewing, drafting and approving policy wordings and complementary endorsements for all classes of business;
- Acting as a key point of contact for underwriters on specific wordings queries;
- Interacting with key stakeholders in the business, including underwriters and management, to ensure that policy wordings are fit for purpose and delivered in line with the business needs;
- Providing recommendations and advice, as required, on operational and regulatory aspects of insurance product design and policy documentation, identifying deficiencies in wordings and working with the business to regularly update wordings;
- Providing technical training to the business on wordings;
- Assisting with the curation of a repository of preferred wording forms and endorsements for use by the business;
- Working closely with key functions including Compliance, Conduct, Risk and Group Legal to ensure the provision of advice to underwriting covers the full spectrum of responsibilities.

Required Skills/Experience:

- Strong experience in UK insurance wordings;
- Strong experience drafting and developing insurance wordings;
- Analytical skills and good attention to detail;
- Experience in working closely with underwriters to ensure input into policy wordings is in line with the business requirements;
- Good knowledge of regulatory needs relating to insurance wordings;
- Ability to identify issues and provide solutions in a timely manner considering the different stakeholders and business needs;
- Excellent organisation and prioritisation skills. Ability to manage multiple projects within a busy, dynamic team environment;
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with colleagues and clients at all levels;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude with the ability to be flexible and multi-task and deliver initiatives within short timescales.

Desired Skills/Experience:

- Relevant technical underwriting experience within insurance

**Education**:

- Minimum A level standard preferred
- Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) qualifications or University Degree (or similar) desirable but not essential
- Legal background desirable but not essential
