Position Overview

Apollo is seeking a Principal in our Asset-Backed Finance (ABF) team to support the growth and evolution of the business in Europe. The Europe ABF business currently comprises of strategies across three main verticals with a very wide range of asset classes: (1) Performing / Investment Grade, (2) Opportunistic Asset-Backed, and (3) Opportunistic Asset-Backed Multi-Credit.

Primary Responsibilities- Lead the execution of investments, including managing the deal process from start to finish-
- Manage due diligence on potential investments, including business fundamentals and valuation; capital structure, credit issues and restructuring dynamics- Lead first-look analysis on new deals to filter through and identify potential opportunities- Partner with multiple functional groups, including Apollo PE / FIG, Redding Ridge, and operating platforms, to develop new products and structure innovative solutions for existing businesses- Take a proactive role in deal origination, working with entire ABF team and other parts of Apollo (including FIG) to develop opportunities for Apollo to deploy from its various capital sources- Present and defend investment recommendations to the Investment Committee- Assist the team with additional ad hoc projects and requests including but not limited to portfolio monitoring, reporting, investor requests and presentations

Qualifications & Experience- 6+ years of experience in investment banking and/or principal investing, with a focus in structured finance; preference for broad base of experience in assets classes beyond solely residential mortgages- Solid understanding of securitisation capital markets, related rating agency methodologies, structured finance legal set-ups, and credit asset economics- Undergraduate degree with a record of academic achievement- Some European language fluency preferred- Excellent attention to detail; strong written and verbal communication skills- Robust interpersonal skills to support communication with external counterparties and management of internal stakeholders, both within Credit ecosystem and across broader investment platform- A “collaboration-first” mindset and a desire to work within a team that values collective results- Excels in a rigorous and fast-paced team-oriented work environment; adept at managing competing priorities across multiple projects, transactions, and workstreams
