**The purpose of the** **Health and Safety Practitioner role is to**:

- Provide the Global Marine UK shore-based facilities with guidance in the management of H&S activities.
- Report and verify on H&S performance throughout the shore-based facilities.
- Develop and implement improvement activities to ensure Global Marine Group continues to grow in a safe and responsible way.
- Reduce Risk to Personnel, the Environment and Assets.

**2. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES**

**The **Health and Safety Practitioner is responsible for a full range of activities that help to ensure the company continues to monitor and improve its product and service offerings to its stakeholders**:
***Manage effective programmes to ensure the business maintains safe control of its Personnel, Assets, and the Environment they work within. Whilst carrying out daily operations and activities such as:
- QHSE Management Systems
- Supplier & Contractor Approvals
- Sustainability obligations
- Reporting Databases
- Ensure the continual improvement of the business management systems to ensure the company maintains its market leading position as effectively and efficiently as possible.
- Ensure that appropriate procedures for the reporting and investigation of incidents are communicated and effectively utilised, to identify corrective and preventative actions.
- Develop relationships with QHSE & Operational professionals across the company and external stakeholders to ensure a Sharing & Learning network is created and maintained.
- Maintain effective CAPA systems to ensure business learns from events and develops best practices.
- Liaise with all enforcement & advisory authorities / organisations within area of responsibility and ensure all matters that affect Group policy are communicated effectively.
- Support QHSE policy to help deliver cultural development and sustained continual improvement in QHSE performance.
- Attend relevant QHSE meetings and provide professional advice and guidance to all parties concerned.
- Facilitate completion of risk assessment activities and ensure line management execute their responsibilities.
- Outline safe operational procedures which identify and consider all relevant hazards.
- Conduct regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented.
- Ensure working practices are safe and comply with U.K. legislation.
- Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and their risks.
- Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements.
- Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and any developments that affect the employer's industry.
- Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g., fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases.

**3. Communications**

The Health and Safety Practitioner** **will regularly liaise with a variety of internal & external personnel at all levels of business:

- Employee representatives.
- Customer & Supplier QHSE & Management Teams.
- Business QHSE Professionals.
- External enforcement & advisory agencies.
- EXCO Team.
- Qualifications, Skills and Experience

**Qualifications, Skills and Experience**

The position requires an effective organiser with strong influencing skills and a commitment to continual improvement, with effective communication styles to influence, persuade and inspire stakeholders.
- Suitably qualified in H&S-Diploma or competence-based qualifications or relevant degree, or Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner qualifications, such as NEBOSH.
- Experience in marine, manufacturing and/or construction environment.
- Ability to identify improvement opportunities through analysis of data.
- Effective interpersonal skills, person must be able to interface across all areas of the company.
- Excellent typing and word processing skills.
- Good level of computer literacy.
- Effective team player.
- Calm under pressure and effective in meeting deadlines.
- At least 2 years post training experience.
- They must have the right to live and work in the U.K.
- Driving Licence required.
