Here at Associated British Ports (ABP) we are currently recruiting for a number of General Purpose Marine Operative at Ipswich Marina.

Whilst ABP is a major Port operator for the commercial and industrial sectors, we also have a dedicated and growing Marina Operations side of the business. Ipswich Haven Marina has been open since 2000 offering 320 berths and 30 dedicated visitor berths that attract almost 2000 visiting yachts to our marina annually.

We are looking for someone who can ensure an efficient day to day running of the Boatyard and Marina Operations by carrying out berth checks, assisting with the general upkeep of the marina, as well as with boat lifts in and out of the water. In addition to your functions at the Marina you will be helping in other areas of the marine department.

Our Marina is focussed on customer service and all roles are customer facing roles. It is therefore crucial to feel confident and be willing to go above and beyond when interacting with our residents and visitors.

The role follows a Monday to Friday 0800-1700 working pattern with weekend working included as the marina does operate 7-days a week and over lively bank holiday periods. **What you'll be doing...**
- General maintenance and housekeeping around the marina and port.
- Taking care of customers with their enquiries, assisting with mooring and unmooring leisure vessels, sale of diesel.
- Operating boat hoist and other boatyard equipment including Forklift and Boat mover.
- Operating a VHF Radio.
- Be part of the Oil Response Team for the East Anglia Ports. Ensure equipment is in good condition and ready to deploy at all times.
- Carry out quay inspections and other infrastructure inspections and carry out maintenance.
- Assist or provide cover in other marine departments.
- Supporting cover requirements at Lowestoft Marina, when necessary.

- Good IT skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to manage time effectively and prioritise tasks.
- A flexible and committed approach to working within a small team that strives to provide a high-quality Port and Marine service.

**Ideally, you'll also have...**
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- VHF Operator Qualification.
- Plant operative experience.
- Slinger/Banksman experience.
