**Salary**:£22,143 per annum, rising to £23,294 after 9 months successful service

**About the role**

We are hoping to welcome an **approachable** and **knowledgeable** Telephone Dementia Adviser to join our specialist telephone-based information and navigation service in Warrington.

You will have the rewarding opportunity to provide support and guidance to people with dementia and their carers; helping to maintain their independence, improving their sense of well-being, and putting them in more control of their lives. The service is unique to each service user as it is based upon their personal circumstances and support needs.

Alzheimer’s Society provides high quality tailored information and support to anyone affected by dementia in the way they need it, when they need it:

- Community based services offering an increased level of support for more complex cases
- Self-management - our online community (Talking Point) and online service directory are always available 24/7
- Keeping in Touch Calls - a way of keeping in contact with service users as their journey with dementia progresses

Key Responsibilities:

- To manage referrals, assisting people affected by dementia in assessing their information and support needs.
- To develop a proactive approach in reaching people with dementia and carers who may not otherwise access our services
- Make outbound calls are made to service users to the Dementia Connect Model and within prescribed timeframes and quality standards.
- Respond to incoming telephone calls in a timely and compassionate manner to achieve person centred outcomes for service users.

**About you**
- Able to deliver advice and guidance with a non-judgmental approach.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Experience in a telephone-based service specialising in advice and support using active listening and questioning skills whilst working effectively to ensure the maximum number of people can be responded to each day.
- An understanding of dementia and the needs of those living with dementia and their carers would be an advantage but if you have had experience supporting with other challenges this would be taken into consideration.
- Have the ability to adopt a Hybrid way of working
- Evening and weekend shifts (typically one in four)
- Must be able to work in either Belfast. Warrington or Birmingham telephone hubs

- Be passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of those affected by dementia.
- Demonstrate optimism, be engaging, and be a pragmatic individual.
- Have Excellent interpersonal skills, being approachable and friendly.
- Have Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Possess Excellent IT skills and an experience of working with databases.
- Be able to work collaboratively with other team members if/when required.
