As our Deputy Manager, you will work with the Night Manager to manage the night shift operation; the role involves management of the night operation ensuring accurate and timely delivery of newspapers and magazines out to our retailers.
**About the role**
You’ll report directly to the Night Manager and will be part of the management team, deputising and running the operation in their absence for our Metro team and depot.
In this interesting and challenging role you will be responsible for:
- Supervising all staff. Providing training and coaching and identifying training needs
- Providing accurate reports that highlight any challenges or successes
- Working closely with the management team to identify potential risks
- Maintaining a high level of health and safety at all times
- Ensuring compliance with legislation and company policy
**General Operations & Administration**
- Assists stakeholders in a professional and courteous manner, communicating effectively, showing empathy and responding with urgency to requests
- Plans and prioritises own time to deliver both business as usual tasks as well as project based activities
- Builds and maintains a full up to date understanding of the business’ services and products
- Consistently and accurately uses key systems administrative and IT systems at an expert level
- Supports the team through the use of key systems and MS Office, to provide meaningful and concise reporting and management information
- Ensures the co-ordination of a seamless process for internal and external stakeholders
- Ensures all processes are run in compliance with all appropriate legislation and regulation such as the Data Protection Act, the Equality Act etc.
- Identifies and provides recommendations for approaches and initiatives to enhance performance
- Presents as a positive agent for change, acts professionally and with commitment through periods of transformation

**About you**
- A track record of success in a warehouse environment typically gained through 2 or more years’ experience
- Tenacious and effective approach to meeting and exceeding targets and delivering an outstanding client experience
- People management or supervisory experience
- Computer literate and comfortable in the use of technology and IT systems, including a high degree of knowledge of MS Office
- Excellent oral and written communications skills including:
- The ability to engage and build rapport with stakeholders
- Communicating information in a clear and commercial manner
- Adapting style and content for different audiences
- Adaptable, positive and effective when working with ambiguity and changing commercial drivers
- Able to work at pace whilst maintaining an accurate, high quality output
- Highly organised with a well-developed approach to prioritisation
- Previous experience within the logistics/distribution marketplace (desirable, not essential)
