One YMCA is seeking dedicated individuals for a new Supported Accommodation Team in Watford where we will provide essential housing support to Separated Migrant Children helping them transition from dependence to independence.

At One YMCA, we offer a range of social housing, health & wellbeing, children’s services, youth and community activities across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Buckinghamshire. With a turnover exceeding £9 million and over 250 staff, we are committed to enriching local communities through our diverse services and partnerships.

As a Young Person’s Housing Support Officer, you will be part of a dynamic team providing personal counselling, support, and enablement to residents with various support needs, including mental health issues, trauma, and life skills. Your role will involve developing individualised support plans, conducting risk assessments, and actively engaging with residents to maximise the benefits of their stay.

Key responsibilities include:

- Empowering residents to achieve independence.
- Supporting residents in decision-making and goal-setting.
- Collaborating with external agencies and professionals.
- Organising activities and training to promote positive behaviour and development.
- Promoting and maintaining optimal occupancy levels.

An Enhanced Disclosure is required for this position.

This position requires flexible shift working hours, in line with the needs of our service users, and will include some weekend hours.

The rota includes one week of early shifts from 8am to 4pm, followed by a week of late shifts from 12pm to 8pm. This is a Full Time role / Hours per week: 37.50 / Working Pattern: Varied 7 days a week, works bank holidays.

By the end of these three days, there was a brilliantly multi-faceted set of themes and ideas, which formed the starting point for the rest of the Mission 25 process to build on. The aim of Mission 25 is to give every staff member and volunteer the opportunity to play their part in shaping the strategy to do “more and better, together” so that we double our impact by 2025. We deliver a vast array of services across Herts, Beds and Bucks that reach over 135,000 individuals annually.

These include:

- Provision of over 700 units of accommodation for homeless people
- Move on accommodation for individuals moving onto independent living
- Housing and practical/emotional support for young asylum seekers
- Community HUBs hosting a range of activities and meeting space hire
- Childcare provision in Hertfordshire
- Family support through a network of children’s and family centres covering Hertfordshire and Bedford
- Therapeutic and non-therapeutic support for male and female victims of domestic abuse and their children
- Independent sexual violence services across Bedfordshire, Luton and Hertfordshire
- Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire
- Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund
