The Mental Health Support Team is an early intervention service designed to support Cornwall's primary schools in their efforts to support Children's Mental Health.
The support worker role is an exciting new development to expand our team and increase the number of schools we can reach. The role will cover the East area Of Cornwall (Caradon / Upper Tamar) and the ability to travel to schools in this area is an essential requirement.
**Proposed Interview date**: TBC
Support workers will work closely with our qualified staff to deliver specific targeted intervention to schools. A significant amount of group work practice is envisaged and full support and training will be given to enable workers to deliver a selected range of psychoeducational or supportive interventions. Initially this work will be jointly delivered but over time the support worker will feel equipped to deliver these interventions independently.
Regular supervision will be offered as will opportunities for involvement in project work and resource development
A driver with access to a vehicle is required and whilst travel costs from a nominated base will be covered a reasonable amount of travel to access schools across the full East region is envisaged. Cornwall MHST is offered to Primary Schools and an interest and skills in working with this age group is highly valued.
