The Orpheus Centre is an independent specialist College in Godstone, Surrey. We focus on developing independence skills through performing and visual arts and make dramatic improvements to young disabled adults’ lives.
Set up by musician and songwriter Sir Richard Stilgoe, Orpheus offers learning, supported housing and personal care all on the same site in Godstone, Surrey. We showcase what Orpheus students can offer in the workplace and we challenge the barriers to employment faced by some disabled people.
We are currently seeking an **Events and Outreach Assistant (part-time) **t**o **support the Senior Outreach and Events Manager and Events Fundraiser to deliver an engaging programme of special events and outreach.
The post holder will be an integral part of the Events and Outreach Team, reporting to the Senior Outreach and Engagement Manager, as we look to grow the Orpheus special events calendar over the coming years and in line with our capital build plans.
You will work closely with the Events Fundraiser to ensure that all events are organised and run to the highest standard and that relevant reporting and follow ups are delivered in a timely fashion.
You will also work closely with the Senior Outreach and Events Manager to maintain close relationships with our outreach partners, and to assist with the administration and on the day co-ordinating of outreach activities.
**21 hours per week / 52 weeks per year**
**£13,497.12 [FTE £22,500] per annum**

**Essential qualifications, knowledge and experience**:
- 5 GCSEs (Grade C or above) or equivalent including Maths and English OR demonstrable literacy and numeracy
- Worked as part of a team
- Worked to budgets, targets and plans
- Practical experience of planning and working on events
- Experience working with young people in an arts/education setting
- Experience recruiting and co-ordinating volunteers
- Knowledge of different methods of fundraising
- Awareness of how to motivate and support volunteers and supporters
- Basic awareness of marketing and social media
- Good communication and written skills
- High levels of accuracy in written materials and data entry
- Excellent organisational skills with ability to work on own initiative under pressure & without direct supervision
- Confident in dealing with external suppliers and contractors
- Excellent interpersonal and networking skills
- Able to build and maintain good working relationships with people, stakeholders and organisations
- Able to prioritise, plan and organise own workload including demonstrable experience of managing a diverse workload and working to strict deadlines under pressure
- Good IT skills including Microsoft Office
- Able and willing to work unsocial hours
Experience working in the charity sector and/or further education with young adults with learning and/or physical disabilities is desirable.
