- Project Tullie Curator- Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery Trust is a major independent regional museum welcoming over 200,000 visitors every year. We are the lead organisation of the Cumbria Museum Consortium, an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation. Our Manifesto places collections at the heart of everything we do: we use them to inspire co-creation and active participation, celebrate diversity and champion equality, and foster a sense of pride in the people of Carlisle and Cumbria for their unique local history.
- Project Tullie is a phased capital development programme based on a masterplan created in 2019 and structured around the museum’s sector-leading manifesto. It aims to unlock the potential of Tullie House and transform the museum into a thriving and dynamic hub for heritage, culture and community wellbeing. Phase 1 involved the creation of new costume galleries, which were completed in 2021. Phase 2, comprising new entrance, reception and welcome gallery, is fully funded and about to commence. Phase 3, focussing on learning and community facilities located in the Victorian Art School, has received a Stage 1 pass from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
- This post will focus on Phase 2, working with the Project Tullie Lead Curator to develop the curatorial and interpretive approach, with a particular focus on the development of a new welcome gallery inspired by the region’s unique history.
- This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about using collections to tell meaningful and engaging stories to help shape an exciting, innovative and impactful capital engagement programme.
- Purpose of the Role- To lead on identifying and developing collections and stories for Phase 2 of the Project Tullie capital development programme
- Support the Project Tullie Lead Curator to work closely with the Programme Manager and Head of Collections Engagement and design teams on the development of galleries and public spaces to ensure alignment with the Museum’s Manifesto, Project Tullie Design Philosophy and collections priorities
