The Application Consultant contributes to the development of the IT Strategy and is responsible for its implementation. Working as a senior member of multiple project teams on UK IT projects, the Application Consultant will make Application design decisions that satisfy both local and Global requirements, ensuring that the Applications Analysts are familiar with the design decisions.
**_ What you’ll be doing_**:
- Provide clear direction to Delivery teams. Improve Application Analyst knowledge through mentoring, workshops and other skill transfer methods
- Contributing to the IT Strategy implementation through formal approval processes. Responsible at a project level for alignment of projects with core IT strategy via the Architecture and Technology group
- Early engagement on large IT projects and IT programmes; Taking strategic direction from Solutions Architect and defining detailed Application Solutions for the business. Assisting business in early scope definition, feasibility analysis and business case development
- Develop testing strategy for larger IT projects where long end-to-end business threads need to be tested spanning multiple underlying integrated systems
- Development of IT Disaster Recovery plans as defined in the IT Strategy
- Responsible for the tools and design models - business processes, information systems, interfaces and technical infrastructure - that are used for requirements capture, impact assessment and high level design
- Provides technical assessment and prioritisation on projects to the Demand Management submission
- Create project dossiers and Project Manage and drive small size projects

- Excellent utility deregulation experience and working knowledge of industry processes
- Experience in collaborating with various external providers, to complete proof of concept exercises and run innovation projects
- Experience of design modelling and document management tools
