**Job Title**: Raw Materials & Supplier Coordinator

**Reporting to**:Technical Director

**The role**:

- Manage and develop the processes for the approval of new and alternative raw materials including sample approval, the trial process, and documented approval from all stakeholders.
- Support implementation of robust raw material & supplier technical governance, assurance & responsible sourcing due diligence process.
- Maintain and improve the processes for risk assessment, approval, and monitoring of existing, new, and alternative suppliers of raw materials, packaging material, and services.
- Ensure all raw materials and packaging material purchased is safe, legal, authentic, and of agreed quality specification.
- Communicate technical terms of trade to suppliers and brand values to the customers.
- Ensure ethical & sustainability policy, food laws, and key stakeholders' requirements including organic, kosher, vegan, BRCGS certifications, and brand values related to the product are considered during supplier approval.
- Assist with ensuring all required food safety, authenticity, and legality are addressed during the NPD project.
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers.

**Key Responsibilities/accountabilities**:

- Raw material & supplier approval and monitoring.
- Communicate and request specification and approval information from suppliers.
- Receive and review supplier approval audit questionnaires.
- Project manage the ongoing risk assessment and approval of raw materials, ingredients, packaging materials, and supplier of services.
- Manage the sourcing team's expectations and report on service levels.
- Maintain a tracker of all approved raw materials.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date raw material specifications documents.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date supplier approval database.
- Carry out quality, safety, authenticity, and compliance assessment checks.
- Take charge of completion, release, and sign off of raw material specifications
- Track supplier technical performance indicators, and reviews and track completion of agreed actions.
- Manage intake assessment and product testing.
- Provide day-to-day supervision of raw material technical assistants responsible for sampling and testing.
- Receive notifications of all planned raw material goods arrivals.
- Receive raw material samples for assessment and pre-shipment testing.
- Plan and carry out intake sampling, assessment, and testing of raw materials.
- Project manage raw material intake technical assessment, acceptance checks & verification testing.
- Carry out organoleptic shelf, and authenticity assessments.
- Plan and arrange external testing services from approved laboratories.
- Generate a certificate of analysis (COA) and ensure timely product availability.
- Monitor raw material quality attributes including organoleptic, shelf life, and sensory testing.
- Investigate raw material and supplier-related non-conformances.
- Analyse trend results, quality non-conformances, and effective management 7 improvements of raw material standard.
- Provide support to the wider technical operation, innovation, and development projects
- Respond to technical queries in Inbox Management (QIM).
- Record, investigate, and trend non-conformance investigations and follow closure actions with suppliers.
- Review complaints and work closely with suppliers.
- Review and make decisions on non-complying stock and attend the stock review meetings.
- Take part in the preparation and hosting of third-party audits.
- Help maintain food safety culture & site standards by carrying out internal audits.
- Prepare information required for management review.
- Be a member of VACCP/HACCP and TACCP team.
- Carry out quality checks and compliance document control with systems in place.
- involved with the innovation and development projects from initiation through to the manufacturing trials.

**Skills**:

- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Good data and IT literacy and data (especially Excel and databases)
- Good communication and organization skills are vital for this role
- To liaise with teams across the business at all levels, including suppliers, and customers.
- Building customer, and supplier relationships, collaborating with operational and NPD teams,

**Experience**:

- A Food Science/Food Technology/Nutrition related degree is required.
- Minimum HACCP Level 3 and Food Safety Level 3.
- Working knowledge of food safety requirements, HACCP, legislation, and BRCGS v9. HACCP/Food Defence/ Food Fraud.
- Auditing and quality standards backed up by relevant qualifications.
- Experienced in internal and external auditing.
- Practical experience in auditing food safety or manufacturing systems.
- Experience with food ingredients, organic food, and food supplements
