**Job overview**:
The Alcohol Support Practitioner within the Alcohol Care Team will provide care and support for those patients with alcohol and substance use issues. The post holder will participate in the delivery of care interventions and delegated tasks under supervision.

The post holder will contribute to the delivery of effective, high quality psychosocial interventions, targeted at repeat presenters / frequent attenders.

**Main duties of the job**:
The Alcohol Support Practitioner will actively contribute to and support the work of the NCA's Alcohol & Substance Steering Group to improve care and reduce alcohol related harm. This includes delivering brief interventions to support and motivate patients with problematic and dependant alcohol use.

The post holder will be expected to work across a range of IT systems to maintain accurate records of care delivery and data collation. The post holder will work both directly and indirectly with patients and clinicians in expediting their pathway through the hospital.
