Extruder Operator

We use our innovative recycling process to close the loop on uPVC recycling. This means that old windows and doors can be recycled and extruded into new windows and doors that boast the same standard of quality as the ones previous.

**Main Purpose**: To carry out all duties in relation to the production of uPVC pellet from uPVC frames.

**Responsibilities**:

- Safe operation of a pellet extruder (cleaning of extruder equipment, completing screen filter changes at the required rate, use of Masterbatch material)
- Provide quality samples at a specified rate (bulk density checks, visual checks of pellets)
- Maintaining extruder output to the required standard
- Housekeeping in the Extruder area - including ancillary process equipment
- Record extruder process conditions, at the specified rate
- Supervision of the Extruder Partner role (correct in feed material, recording of bag descriptions and numbers, safe operations)
- Maintain extruder Kanban records

**Person Specification**

**Essential**:FLT Licence - Counterbalance

**Required Knowledge**:

- Machine Operation background - 2-5 years
- Knowledge of extrusion, blown film, injection moulding, profile extrusion
- Knowledge of plastics - PVC, PE, PET, ABS
- Mechanical appreciation of process equipment
- 1st level breakdown checks - checking the obvious reasons for a breakdown
- understanding of production costs to include waste, downtime, scrap and re-work

- Excellent time keeping and attendance
- Able to work under own initiative/no direct supervision
- Attention to detail (product quality - product identification/traceability)
- Available for shift work rotating 12 hours, 4 on 4 off days/nights (6am-6pm/6pm-6am)

In addition to your normal duties you may, from time to time, be required to undertake additional or other duties as necessary to meet the needs of the business.
