You probably won’t travel around the area for work very much and it’s unlikely that you’ll be expected or able to work from home._

**The Role**:

We are recruiting to this post to demonstrate our commitment to this pledge and to enable to us to expand our in-house waste team, supporting colleagues and our customers to further reduce waste across the business.

Leading a growing, specialist team based primarily at our state of the art, innovative, Thirteen Recycling Centre in Billingham, but also at additional locations within the Tees Valley and wider area, you will oversee a high performing waste transfer and recycling facility and in-house waste management service.

You will have responsibility for undertaking quality and compliance checks to ensure that standards and statutory requirements are maintained, and waste is accepted, stored and transferred in accordance with policy, procedure and relevant legislative requirements.

We are looking for an individual who will lead on health and safety within the team, understanding the particular risks associated within the waste industry and ensuring that we operate safely at all times.

You will also provide instruction, support and supervision to a team of operational staff and trainees.

The main purpose of this role is to work collaboratively with the FM Delivery Manager (TRC), colleagues and partner organisation to provide a flagship waste management service to Thirteen Group, in accordance with best value / continuous improvement and the vision and values of Thirteen.

You will demonstrate a real passion for the improvement of our environmental performance, ensuring that what we are doing is beneficial, cost effective and safe.

**The Person**:
We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable individual who shares our passion for sustainable waste management and is willing to support the team in the development of our in-house service.

We are looking for a person who can demonstrate personal qualities of professionalism, collaboration, drive, and enthusiasm.

You will be responsible for supervising the waste team and communicating with service users, ensuring that the site operates in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, environmental and health safety legislation, and achieves our value for money principles.

A full UK driving licence and experience of operating specialist equipment such as a telehandler and commercial weighbridge is required.

A COTC (Wamitab) in waste treatment and transfer is preferred but not essential and you would be expected to be willing to work towards gaining this qualification.

A good standard of secondary education (Maths and English) is essential for this role and experience of the waste management industry, specifically in the running of a waste transfer operation is preferred.
