As a Senior 136 Nurse you will be responsible for supporting and coordinating MHA assessments, liaising with external agencies’, inpatient and community teams, ensuring that the rights of detained patients are maintained and appropriate care is identified. Patient may be admitted from the community at crisis point and you may be one of the first professionals they meet in their journey to recovery. You will have opportunity to provide immediate support and stability, a friendly face, someone who will listen and will act upon their needs, allaying fears and keeping them informed through the assessment process.

You will also have responsibility for adopting role of senior Mental Health Nurse in charge (MHUNIC) across the inpatient unit, supporting inpatient ward teams in safe staffing, providing clinical advice, support and interventions in clinical matters and incidents, ensuring high standards of patient care and promoting staff wellbeing.

Ensure that patients admitted to 136 Place of Safety receive thorough and timely holistic assessment. This requires skills in effective assessment and communication.
