Home Assistance Officer

Scunthorpe, United Kingdom North Lincolnshire Council Full time

We are adding to our existing Home Assistance Team to help deliver the ever-increasing demand for grants / loans programme within North Lincolnshire.

This post is full-time / permanent, however we would consider someone who wishes to work part-time.

Do you have sound knowledge of domestic construction, can you spot defects and offer solutions to remedy them?

Can you design adaptations, based on recommendations by Occupational Therapists, to enable the elderly and vulnerable to remain in their homes longer by providing them with access solutions?

If you have experience of either of the above and want to make a difference to people’s lives by helping them to improve their living conditions, then we may be able to offer you the opportunity to work for a modern, forward-thinking organisation, offering flexible working arrangements.

Based at Home / Church Square House, Scunthorpe, within the Home Assistance Team, you will form part of a dedicated team working on delivering the grants / loans programme within the Council's Home Assistance Policy, within the boundaries of North Lincolnshire.

The role has two main surveying functions, and the focus will switch between the two, depending on demand and priorities.

Whatever your experience, you must have excellent communication skills especially with regards to liaising with service users, many of whom are elderly and vulnerable. Experience of managing works on site, and contractors would also be an advantage.

You will have the ability, experience and confidence to work unsupervised and as part of a team, especially when work crosses over into other areas.

Good Computer Aided Design (CAD) skills would be advantageous as would an understanding of grants legislation.

You will be provided with excellent admin / IT support and continuous professional development to enable you to carry out the role and develop your skills accordingly.

We are collectively organised around the people and place of North Lincolnshire. Together we ensure that our communities are safe, well, prosperous and connected. We are ambitious for North Lincolnshire, we want our area to be the #BestPlace for our residents by being the #BestCouncil we can be. We achieve this through living our values - equality of opportunity, excellence, integrity and self-responsibility - in all that we do.
