**The Opportunity**:
**Senior Hydraulic Modeller - Northwest Yorkshire**

Arup has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Hydraulic Modeller based in our Leeds office. We would welcome applicants from surrounding areas, such as York, Sheffield, Hull and more. This role is a cornerstone within a growing team working on a range of infrastructure and catchment management projects across the UK and overseas. These projects all have climate change adaptation and resilience as a core aim. To be successful in this post, a sound understanding of hydraulic analysis and design techniques is essential.

Arup’s hydrology and hydraulic modelling teams provide technical insight and play a key role in the development of sustainable solutions for a wide range of clients, from private developers to government agencies, local authorities, and major infrastructure providers. The team is growing, both in terms of the projects we engage on, but also in terms of skills and use of digital tools, in the delivery of excellence. A key success factor for these projects and proposals is their sustainability and effectiveness, so a keen interest in sustainability is welcome. A further critical function is the liaison across multidiscipline teams and collaboration with the client.

As a technical leader, use of relevant software and processes, in a practical, pragmatic fluid and collaborative manner, will be of much value. Our team makes use of Tuflow, FloodModellerPro and GIS, therefore proficiency in these systems would be encouraged. Reporting directly to the team management, alongside existing senior staff, this client facing function will involve supporting, mentoring and supervision of more junior staff members, as well as influencing colleagues and their skills building capacity. This collaboration in modelling techniques across the firm is an opportunity to grow and mentor junior talent within the business, whilst contributing to technical excellence.

**Skills and Qualifications**
- Professional qualification (CEng, CSci) with either CIWEM or ICE or working towards professional status;
- Dynamic organisational and technical skills
- Deep knowledge of and affinity for FMP-Tuflow, GIS, gained in industry involvement on UK flood risk and catchment science projects
- Passion for the environment and sustainability.
