The team at SCA Care believe that helping people live the life they want to lead is extremely important - everyone should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential. Our exciting Complex Care Service supports adults with learning disabilities and mental health needs to build and maintain life skills, including domestic activities such as cooking and cleaning, as well as budgeting, shopping, seeking employment and/or further education as well as discover new social activities.

We’re all about person-centred care. We make sure that the customer’s home always remains personal to them, and that the care and support given is tailored to their unique and individual needs.

**What are we looking for?**

For us, personality and passion comes before education. Caring experience would be the cherry on the top, but as long as you have the right attitude and values, then we’d love you to apply You’ll always be supported and looked after by your SCA Care colleagues and wider Social Care in Action family.

Investing in our family of staff is important to us - we provide full training and will work with you to build your career, not just do a job day in day out. Our ethos is - when you thrive, we thrive.

We currently have opportunities for Support Workers to work a variety of day shifts.

A full, valid and clean driving licence and access to your own motorised transport would be advantageous but not essential.

**What does a Support Worker do, I hear you ask**

A Support Worker's role can be wide and varied, and no two days are the same - but here’s an idea of what you could be doing:
Promoting and encouraging independence, whilst assisting the people we support with their daily routines

Identifying new opportunities for integration, participation and inclusion, available to the people we support, both within our services and the community

Providing quality personal care, which could include bathing, toileting etc. depending on individual needs, while maintaining respect and sensitivity

Participating in household tasks, which include cleaning, cooking, ironing, washing etc. while encouraging the people we support to join in

Working with the people we support to implement appropriate strategies for when behaviours that challenge may occur

Engaging in conversation and sometimes having a belly laugh together over something silly

**About SCA Care**

Social Care in Action is a group of charitable social enterprises providing community services across Southern England. Everything we do is focused on supporting individuals to lead the life they want, in the way they want. As a not-for-profit organisation every penny we make in surplus is reinvested back into the wider communities we work with. Our head office is in Southampton, with our main services delivered across Southampton, The New Forest and surrounding areas.

If you’re successful, we need you to have an Enhanced Disclosure Check through the Disclosure and Barring Service which we’ll pay for.
