Small Works Estimator

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented **Small Works Estimator** to join our team at East Kilbride. In this role, you will report to the Technical Services Manager and Project Manager, taking full responsibility for the preparation and submission of estimates and reports.

You will handle requests for extra or remedial works, translating them into comprehensive small works estimates. Ensuring these are priced accurately and delivered to the client promptly and efficiently will be a key focus of your work.

Success in this role requires a strong analytical mindset, coupled with the ability to think creatively and adapt to challenges. As a time-served engineer with a proven track record, you will bring a self-motivated and quick-learning attitude to the position.

**Role Responsibility**
- Evaluate and clearly understand the details and requirements for each estimate, attend site visits where necessary and provide tender evaluation in line with current processes and strategy prior to estimation
- Estimate the costs; labour, materials and sub-contractors required to achieve the specification, calculating any adjustments for overheads, profit, life expectancy cycle and contingency
- Provide estimates on the completion of the project including milestones and completion rates through continual review
- Obtain sub-contractor costs and evaluate the prices, negotiate with contractors and sub-contractors as required to provide meaningful costs in the agreed timeframe
- Responsible for any changes from the original specification including preliminary pricings, time scales and any other changes as requested
- Knowledge of all estimating packages including templates, tender logs etc.
- Keep up to date with the latest estimator techniques, procedures and estimating packages

What’s essential:

- Time Served Engineer
- Ideally come from an Estimating background within Facilities Management
- Proven time management organisational skills, with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Good attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
- Ability to quickly assess the requirement, and then change dependent on new information
- Analytical but ability to think beyond or around a process
- Self-starter and ability to operate and communicate at all levels (from site level to senior management)
- Knowledge of direct labour resources within the Hard FM platform in terms of market cost
