Network Engineer - Financial Services (Contract, Hybrid)
CPS Group UK are delighted to be seeking a seasoned Network Engineer to work on-site (Mon-Fri) with a prestigious organisation in London. This role is primarily a project role, providing Network delivery expertise for the infrastructure and services which underpintheir network. The Engineer will work closely with Architects and Project Delivery to deploy network project deliverables as directed.
The Engineer will be expected to develop, manage and maintain core Network infrastructure including services such as LAN, WAN, routers, switches, load balancers and firewalls.
Role Responsibilities
Responsible for the delivery of multiple concurrent projects, planning and scheduling of work; delivering on time and to the required quality across all network infrastructure, including:
Cisco and Arista switches/routers
F5 and A10 load balancers
Cisco ASA, Checkpoint and Fortinet firewalls
- Perform device configuration, software upgrades and implementation of firewall rules based on project needs and requirements.
- Perform and respond to project requests as defined by management, completing assignments in a timely manner and to acceptable level of quality.
- Contributing to low-level designs and implementing technology defined within.
- Liaison with Network architects, operational and project teams to ensure patterns and standard building blocks meet LME requirements.
- Performance, compatibility testing and dependency management between components.
- Knowledge transfer to IT Operations for new technology or project deliveries, including process and technical documentation for handover to support teams
Required Technical Experience
- Demonstrable knowledge and hands-on experience working with the following Network protocols: o BGP, OSPF, STP, vPC, Port-Channels, IP, DHCP, DNS, HSRP o VRF, Multicast, VPN, VXLAN, NAT, ACLs, MPLS, VDCs
- Supporting and configuring Network Firewalls (Cisco ASA, Check Point, Fortinet).
- Supporting and configuring Load Balancers (A10, F5).
- Supporting and configuring Packet tools (e.g. Wireshark)
- Cisco Wireless / DNA-C / ISE / DCNM (Desirable)
- Arista CloudVision
- Understanding of SolarWinds (diagnostics, reporting and troubleshooting)
- Knowledge of ITILv3 methodologies.
