You will join the LDP Team dealing with all aspects of the statutory planning process.
**Requirements**:
Essential:
- Educated to degree level in town planning or a related discipline leading to exemption from the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) exam.
- Knowledge and understanding of local planning and wider planning issues
- Excellent IT skills and experience of MS Office, or similar
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills
- Good knowledge and experience of GIS
- Ability to work on your own initiative, using good judgement - Ability to prioritise workloads
- Ability to work with minimum supervision and under pressure
- Experience of successfully working as a member of a team and have strong customer focus
- A full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Chartered Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute
- Experience in the preparation of development plans
- Experience of dealing with consultants and senior management
- Experience of engaging with the public at public meetings and consultation events
- Broader experience of the development plan process and local planning
- Experience of liaising and of working collaboratively within and across sectors
- Data collection, collation and analysis
- Awareness of Project/Programme methodology such as PRINCE2 / PRINCE2 Foundation qualification
- Experience of using Microsoft Project or similar tools
- Knowledge of Access and Excel software
- Knowledge of Adobe packages, including Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
- Experience of using Idox and Uniform
**Responsibilities**:
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the preparation, monitoring and review of the Perth and Kinross Local Development Plan
- Liaison with other services and outside agencies with regard to preparation and review of the strategic elements of the Local Development Plan
- Prepare and help co-ordinate strategic planning input to the local development plan
- To carry out and commission research in support of policy development and implementation
- To assist in the preparation of master plans, planning briefs and other land use based strategies
- Develop and help maintain strong links with other groups, departments and organisations to promote effective joint working
- To contribute to the effective and efficient discharge of the Local Development Plans Team function, including implementing the Business Management and Improvement Plan and meeting Audit Scotland’s performance criteria
- To assist in fulfilling the Councils statutory duties in relation to the Strategic Environmental Assessment of Development Plans and other planning policies
- To undertake all duties in a manner which seeks to achieve and maintain the highest professional standards of environmental care, public service, best value and quality in decision making.
