About department
The Reward function is responsible for the policy, design and innovation of our pay and benefits strategy across abrdn. The remit of the team is to create an attractive pay and benefits offering to enable the attraction and retention of talent across the organisation.
The Pensions and Benefits team are responsible for maintaining and developing the employee benefits offerings to abrdn colleagues and to ensure that these are communicated effectively.
This role will include working with reward and wider HR colleagues as well as the pension scheme Trustees and their advisers in the running of abrdn’s pension scheme arrangements.
About the role
This is a unique role which gives the opportunity to work on behalf of the pensions scheme Trustees as well as being a key part of the Pensions and Benefits team representing the company. Reporting to the Pensions Manager whom you will work closely with, you will be responsible for ensuring that abrdn’s defined benefit and defined benefit arrangements are well governed and are kept up to date in terms of any changes in legislation.
You will ensure that pension schemes are supported by adequate processes and controls. You will work closely with the pension scheme secretary ensuring the abrdn defined benefit and trust based defined contribution arrangements are running smoothly. This will include attending regular governance meetings as well as project managing scheme and company projects. You will also help deal with any member queries both routine and complex.
Ensuring that colleagues and members understand and are informed about pension matters, you will work closely with internal and external colleagues to optimise any communication strategies so that complex pension matters are easy to understand. This will include promoting our financial wellbeing strategy and other pension communication related matters.
This role requires working closely with many different stakeholders including internal and external suppliers as well as having an active role at Trustee and Pension Scheme governance meetings.
In addition to your involvement in the company pension schemes there will also be opportunities to get involved in wider aspects of Reward.- You will be experienced working in both Defined Benefits and Defined Contribution Pension arrangements within large corporate organisations.- Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise challenging workloads and deadlines.- IT and numerical skills as well as being able to analyse, research and understand information. Project management skills and experience are also desired.- Great communication, customer service and interpersonal skills and the ability to explain complex information clearly and simply.- You will operate with a high level of professionalism, personal integrity and attention to detail and be motivated to ensure a high quality of delivery.
